Our IT lead teacher has suggested I start a blog - so here it is! I am adding to my knowledge about new technologies alongside our students. As the old adage goes - use it or lose it. So here is my first blog!
Being a Principal in the 21st century is proving to be rather exciting - digital technology is expanding at an enormous pace and we must keep up with it. Pedagogy is also changing and we are having to keep abreast of new trends - differentiated learning, guiding students to new discoveries, digital learning - global challenges.
When I first started teaching it was all gestetners (remember the smell of the ink?!) and making our resources from scratch. Now, we have 'Google' being an everyday term - a noun and a verb. We can find things - images, meanings, maps at the drop of a hat from anywhere we so desire.
Our students have a place in history as new technology comes on line and they have the opportunity to work and learn with it. It is often noted that many of the careers our children will be involved with have not yet been invented. We intend to help prepare our students to be confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners, ready for new situations in a world where rapid change is the norm. They have very bright futures .
